Dr. Cathy Thompson stands as a dynamic leader at the intersection of business strategy, education, and community impact. A retired U.S. Navy veteran, entrepreneur, educator, author, speaker and board advisor, she embodies disciplined leadership, strategic thinking, and service-driven excellence.
As Founder and CEO of Cathy Newman Consulting LLC, Dr. Thompson leverages over three decades of professional, military, and academic experience to help organizations strengthen strategic alignment, marketing effectiveness, and operational clarity. Her work focuses on bridging strategy and execution—ensuring that vision translates into measurable results.
Dr. Thompson holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Strategic Marketing, with research centered on buyer persona alignment and its impact on marketing and sales effectiveness. She also earned an MBA in Entrepreneurship and a BS in Business Management and Leadership. Her academic foundation, combined with real-world execution, positions her as both a thought leader and practitioner in business transformation.
In addition to her consulting practice, Dr. Thompson serves as a Business and Marketing Educator and Advisory Leader at Military Magnet Academy (MMA), where she mentors future entrepreneurs, prepares DECA competitors, and guides students in accounting, personal finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship pathways. She also holds advisory and leadership roles supporting student professional organizations and strategic program development within the academy.
Her leadership extends beyond the classroom and consulting space. Dr. Thompson serves on the Board of Directors for Behind The Leaf, contributing to initiatives that empower women entrepreneurs through education, investor access, and strategic growth opportunities.
