Women’s History Month

Welcome to Women’s History Month….YASSSS!!! The month of March is our month to commemorate and encourage the study, observance and celebrate the vital role of women in American history. It’s important to celebrate the past, present, and future achievements and accomplishments of women in this world. We have come thus far but still have mileage to gain for what the future holds. As you have seen, the first female Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, “Woman of Color”, has secured a spot in all of the history books.

As women, we are forever evolving through our life experiences and this evolution takes us on a journey that I believe has been predestined for us. Which brings me to the word “Purpose”…what is your purpose? The word purpose as a noun means the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. Why are you here? What were you predestined to do in this world. Are you ready to find clarity in your purpose?

RESILIENCE

What is resilience? Google says “resilience” is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties, toughness or the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity. Well, with that being said let’s talk about the year 2020. In this past year, we’ve gone from a global health pandemic, racial injustice, volatile climate to complex geopolitics and the crazy and divisive U.S. election. This year will certainly never be forgotten.

Our ability as a society to adapt, innovate and grow on a global and local level has been extraordinary. In our businesses and careers, we have learned to pivot and become creative in our new business ventures and careers. We’ve had to innovate and create/develop products and services that now cater to the “new normal”. As an entrepreneur or business owner, it’s imperative that you maintain the mindset of being resilient in your industry. Remain humble, authentic and fight the good fight!

It goes without saying that 2020 has been a year of pure hell for some if not all. Citizens and communities across the world did come together and exhibit courage and humility. Resilience is what defined 2020, but more importantly, it will be what takes us forward in 2021. Here’s to a healthy, safe, and happy 2021.

It’s Our Time

It is our time to “Rise Up!!! However, we are on God’s timeline and if it is his will we will prevail. He holds the key to our positioning in this universe. Patience is a virtue and fruit of the Spirit. “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

I inserted myself into this collage of beautiful, smart, strong, independent, and impressive Women of Color to empower myself to continue to dream big and know that all things are possible through faith and hard work. I was in awe when I saw this collage bouncing around all of the social media platforms. I quickly added it to my collection of images for my vision board. I’m quite sure they all had dreams and goals they achieved to get to where they are today. I truly believe there is no secret formula for success. You have to know how to maximize every minute of your time. As Daymond John would say, “The dream is free, but the hustle is sold separately”. He ain’t never lying about that…the struggle is real! We are approximately 33 days away from 2021. I’m excited to put 2020 behind me and move forward with new goals and a revamped business vision. So I say to you, if you haven’t already, pull out those vision boards, vision maps and giant wall post-it notes and start working your 2021 goals, dreams, and business ventures. It’s here are you ready?

When Does a Dream become a Goal?

A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement. Everyday we need to be motivated to do something for ourselves and others. We have to be intentional about the choices we make. Make plans to stay focused and on track with your life as well as your business.  The month of August is rolling out fast and we have four months remaining in 2020. So…what have you done so far? Ummm….where’s your list, planner, or journal? Come on now….we gotta get it cracking…so many things to get done.  COVID-19 hit many of us pretty hard so we’re working on our personal growth and professional development.  Many had to pivot on careers and jobs. In the personal growth category, do you have clarity on your lifestyle and purpose…what’s bothering you?  For professional development, are you happy with your current career choice or job…if you could change it what would you do? Take a moment to reflect, get a notepad and pen and jot down your thoughts.  If you would like to share, please leave your comments below. Let’s get to it!!!

The Visionary Woman

A visionary woman is a woman who thinks about and plans her future with wisdom and imagination. She has visualized a future and is on a mission to make that future a reality. She is a woman who has had an encounter and has her eyes set on a distinct goal. A visionary woman does these things well:

  • She knows who she is and can describe it in a way to others that is memorable and unforgettable.
  • She knows her numbers (how much she made and how much she wants to make).
  • She takes the first step on the road to achieving her money goals (hint: it isn’t enough just to talk about it; you have to implement it!)

Are you a visionary woman? How much does it cost to live the life you dream of? That cost minus what you are currently making is what is called the beyond zone. Have you met your goals for 2020? Have you started planning for 2021? Yes….2021 we’re in August only fours month left in this year. Write down your income goals (you can break it down in quarters if its easier). Write down three ideas of how you will achieve this (existing work/new projects/new clients). What are your lists looking like?

Mindful Manifestation-AKA- Dreaming

Dreaming…*Dare to Dream Big* *Make it Happen* Spend at least 10-15 minutes on mindful manifestation (dream & dream) on what you want for your life, business, and purpose. Every big company starts with a dream. Take control of your life, grab the bull by the horns and be proactive. Be responsible and accountable for making your dreams come true. You are the only one that can make that happen. No one else can do it for you…only you! You should feel relieved by that because it means no one can take it away from you. You hold the key to unlock your dreams and destiny. Teach your brain to manifest your dreams. Train your subconscious mind with positive thinking and affirmations. You must believe any and all things are possible. Say “yes – it will happen”, repeat it to yourself, make index cards or post-it notes and put them up around the house (bathroom, bedroom, home office, kitchen, heck even in your car) and continuing repeating this until it becomes a mantra or a habit. “Impossible is Nothing” – Muhammad Ali

2018 Is Here & What are You Doing?

We’re near the end of the first week of 2018…..these days are moving fast.  So, what have you done so far? Ummm….where’s your list or planner? Come on now….we gotta get it cracking…so many things to get done.  This year we’re working on our personal growth and development as well as our professional development.  In the personal growth category, do you have clarity in your life…what’s bothering you?  And for professional development, are you happy with your current career choice…if you could change it what would you do? Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018

With 3 days left in 2017 what are you doing? Getting rid of all the clutter that has accumulated over the year? Writing down goals and resolutions that you’re planning to put into action? Grocery shopping for some of the foods for that traditional meal your family has…..collard greens (for the dollar bills) and black-eyed peas (for the coins) to bring money our way for 2018.  What are some of your family traditions or cultural rituals for bringing in the New Year?  I’ll be heading to my Momma’s for a plate of soul food.

Women Walking in God’s Wisdom

Are you walking in God’s wisdom?

First of all, what is wisdom?  Wisdom involves exercising prudence in all matters of general interests.  There are two kinds of wisdom, worldly and Godly.  Worldly wisdom comes from man, worldliness, experience, culture and logic.  Godly wisdom is from above and is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and willing to yield.  God uses wisdom as a constructive agent.

The phases of construction are:

  • Design (Jeremiah 1:5, Ephesians 1:11)
  • The Demolition (Ezekiel 36:26, Psalm 51:10)
  • Reconstruction (Isaiah 64:8)
  • The Final Production (Job 23:10)

Wisdom is life for our souls! Wisdom builds a fortress that preserves the righteous! Wisdom builds a wealth of invaluable knowledge!

  • Fear the Lord (Psalm 111:10)
  • Study God’s Word (Psalm 119)
  • Pray and ask for Wisdom (James 1:5; 2 Chronicles 1:1-17)
  • Live to Please God (Ecclesiastes 2:26)
  • Govern Your Life by Godly Counsel (Proverbs 19:20; Psalms 1:6)

Be careful on how you’re living (guard yourself, be diligent about your surroundings).
